I use a physical stick figure to inspire me for these poses. The top row features normal proportions. The bottom row features more imaginative proportions. Though, I drew on the wrong layer for the bottom portions, so I just left my under-sketch. I don't if it's just me, but I started looking at my anatomy references less and less the more I drew these poses.

Here are some lighting exercises. I think I got a headache when I was drawing more complex shapes. Once I started breaking those shapes down into smaller and simpler shapes to pinpoint my shadows, it got easier.

Here are the colored versions of my drawing. I used that Adobe color program to use some basic color combinations. For this character, I imagined her to be a show-off and haughty, so I tried to use bolder colors.
If anyone has time to give their thoughts and feedback on which one has the more appealing color schemes and why, I would appreciate that. Please and thank you.

i think 5 might be the best one but what if you tried switching the green and purple so that her vest is purple and inner clothes are green?

I feel like the gloves would look better if they were green and the shoes too for some alternations so that its not all one color unless thats what ur going for

Thank you for your feedback I'll try to apply your comments and see what it looks like once I get some time to come back to it. Regarding the shoes, I left it as only one color for now since I didn't want get too bogged down in the details yet when I was iterating different color schemes. But I agree that they could use some more color.

Here are some of my revisions. 3 and 5 seemed to be the winners based on what some friends told me. I had a comment to break up the purple on 5, so I did that for the purple 6 (formerly 5). Also, Per mitsuki-youko's suggestion, I inverted the color scheme for 5, which is now 7. I also added some other colors in the jackets, pants, shoes, etc.

I'm probably going to spend some time on animal/creature drawing for a while, since I am unfamiliar with animals. However, I do want to share the cel-shaded version of a drawing I did based on Marc's YouTube ArtSchool Cel Shading tutorial. It was quite fun. I left the highlights out of the hair though because they looked kind of weird on her. Maybe it's the hat?

Here are some animal studies that I did. The anatomy study got pretty confusing for me, but it helps to know human anatomy have some overlap with animal anatomy.

For the gesture drawings, the small drawings were 30 seconds each while the bigger drawings were 2 minutes each.

For the longer studies, I took about 1-2 hours on each.

Here are some long studies of some animals. I exaggerated the muscle definition to nail down where the muscles would be.

I've been thinking about my creature for this assignment. So far, I'm thinking of settling on a hybrid of a canine and a second animal that could be a horse, a deer or a caribou. Whether it would live in a wintry or a warmer climate is something I'm unsure about. I hope to start next weekend.

I've been pretty busy with Brushtober. I started on day 10 since I found out on that day. It's been a struggle trying to keep up, but the challenge was quite eye-opening for me, since it forced me to confront my own shortcomings and to see what I could do under a time crunch. It also forced to me use techniques that I don't normally use, like perspective techniques and tools. I hoped to work on my shortcomings more in the future (like hands, feet, composition, etc.) Here are some samples that I've worked on.

Here is a work-in-progress of my creature design. I played it pretty safe with this one since I'm still a novice at drawing canines, felines, and other animals in general – especially when it comes to drawing them from my imagination. For this creature (which does not have a name yet), I combined elements of a snow leopard and an Ibizan hound. I looked up shaggy dogs to see how furry creatures would look like. While the fur would cover up most of the anatomy, drawing the anatomy did help me see how the creature could make sense. This animal would live in snowy regions in the mountains like the snow leopard.

I would appreciate any comments and critique about my design, like anatomy, proportions, etc. I'm not sure if my current pattern with the spots/markings make the design too busy or if there needs to be more spots. Should the creature be more shaggy/furry?

The creature will not be purple haha I just used that as an outline

Perhap can you show the outline away from the sketches? It's a bit hard to see the structure and anatomy of your animal.

Your animal looks pretty cool but I feel the paw position is a bit weird. So the back paws are indicating that it's moving but the front paws stiffness suggest it's standing? My animal anatomy are zero but it those paws position looks so awkward.
