After sinking some time in to learning basics of blender i found 3d approach to be much easier then pure 2d workflow. The fact that perspective is taken care of makes posing much simpler.

I tried making an illustration combining all 3 lessons in term 6 but it ended up looking bad, the composition and colors didn't hit the way I intended. And the fact that the mech design looks rather goofy does not help. I shoud have played with the perspective more given that i used 3d as my base. If you have any feedback or observation i would be very greatfull.

Your being to hard on yourself @playforwho89. I think this looks so sensational. The mech doesn’t look goofy at all, I think it looks friendly if that’s what you intended.

Couple of things, what is your main focus? The mech or people? At first glance to me the people are, reason being is that the drawing is quite light in comparison to the black of the silhouette. If you want to pull focus more to the mech I think using a dark grey would help, and perhaps with a slight guessian blur as well.

In terms of composition, I think using rule of thirds could help, the mech is in a good position but the people are 2 low, see image. Hope this helps.

I’ve gotta say, your colours in this piece are awesome, I love the subtle blue giving the metal a cold feeling, you nailed it. Keep it up.
