Hey,
Thank you for the welcome.
Im a total noob when it comes to drawing, but I have some experience in 3d cad modeling which could be helpful at some point. I started drawing regularly (every day) since august and I really like it even if nothing I draw is really worth showing (at the moment), lol. For me its a good stress relief and its fun.
Even gesture drawing is fun.
Today I did some gestures, a full body and some attempts on faces and coloring in black and white. The full body is, meh,, but I like the faces somehow.. Its an exercise so it doesn't have to be perfect, right?
@Lockenheim thank you very much. Good to know, that im not that bad
Here is my "homework" for today.
First I did some cylinders and skeletons. Then male and female body and some 1minute and 30seconds gestures. Im getting better already at gesture drawing. Was way easier today..
Hey, thanks @prinzmoana
Couldn't get much done within the week so far, but I tried to draw at least half an hour a day.
I practiced gesture drawing a lot and today I tried to draw Gimli from lord of the rings.
Monday gesture drawing
Tuesday
And todays work
And here are some whole body practices without measurement, just by eye,. Tried a thicker brush too, just out of curiosity.
Allo.
Love that you tried to tackle advanced topics from other terms (shading for example). I'm particularly impressed with your Gimli drawing. Keep it up with your face study. They may look off but at least you know where to tackle and have enough confidence to do it (I'm still doing the nose lmao)
Gesture-wise, I think you only focus on the contour body which i can see as the gesture lines doesn't flow/connect with each other to give us a solid idea/understanding. When I meant flow, I mean trying to represent the body movement with as few lines as possible without worrying about the anatomy and shape.
A good start could be watching Proko on gesture drawing basic. Remember, you are not worrying about the shape/accuracy; you are worry about getting the essence/idea of the pose in gesture drawing.
Keep it up and hope you continue your impressive facial practice.
Hey Gordon. Thanks a lot for your comment.
when I fail at gestures, I have to draw something else to not get disappointed, so I started to do faces and that seems a lot easier for me somehow. so yeah, will work on them as well.
For the gestures, I know I have to work on that. I tend to focus on the contours and try to copy what I see in the minimal amount of time I have ,1minute or 30seconds per picture, and I know that's not the right way. that lack of time is making me unconfident and I start to rush and things get worse.. I think I don't have this general understanding of the human body (yet) to get the right lines and flow.
So, yeah, will work on that. I know proko, have subscribed to his channel and I will check his videos out. Thanks for the tip.
@Lockenheim
unfortunately not, I did only purchase term 1 by now. At first i wasn't sure about this art school thing, so I thought ill give it a try with term 1 and if it feels right I will purchase the whole thing, though not the feedback version.
Ok, so more gesture drawing practice and more time for it until I get the basics right?
I did some more gestures after watching some videos from proko, gesture drawing basics.
I think, these ones are a bit better. Still lacking any elegance though,
