Hi! I've been ghosting the site for a while now, then giving C&C where i thought i could help and now, i'm starting my very first artblog:D

I don't want to make too many promises about how often i will update it but i can promise to be grateful for any comment or critique that could help me level up my art.

Really nice work, especially for your first digital paintings!
One thing I'd suggest is defining the shadows and edges more. Since there's no defined shadow shape, the shading tends to get muddy. Try to clearly separate the light and shadow side, like you did in the second painting, and stick to it when you render!

@JannaSophia thanks for your feedback! I realised the problem and managed to improve on that a bit bit there is still room to improve a whole lot more;)

This is what i've drawn a little while ago and I like it but I would want to make him look older. Here he looks like a young warrior although I wanted to make him look like a veteran-old but experienced and still dangerous. Any suggestions?

Whoa, i made the bear above on my phone and i must say it looks lot different this enlarged:)) Any way, i would still like to give him the looks of a seasoned warrior. Maybe a scar would be a shot in the right direction but i think i should do more than that... Any ideas?

I am working on an illustration of a book i read (no it's not GoT) that has a girl riding a dragon in it...The dragon is supposed to be glowing, the story is bright and full of goodness so i'm trying to make a bright environment but then i have the problem of not being able to show the dragon.
Another thing i'm having problems with is that i have no idea how to move from this sketchy look into a more clean version of the painting.

Just an update of the dragon girl...

The girl had plastic surgery but it didn't change much, the goose at the front managed to fly out from the sceene and i got some valuable feedback-the perspective is off. I didn't notice it in line art but now that i know about it, it is really all i can see:/
I do like the moutains in the background... And the dragon is glowing convincingly :))

I started with some light and reflection course, so here is an assigment i did for it. Well, there is some work to be done on the texture...

What i am not sure about is the contrast-are the shadows to dark, is the ambient light strong enough? Anyways, i loved it and can't wait to do more:D

The elipse is supposed to show from where the light is coming, it's a distant light source. The sphere is there for my refrence to help myslef with finding the right values on the shape.

And here it is... The finished one i guess. I changed the texture, that rhino skin was a bit too much to tackle.
I went on with a rock wall texture and i think it ended up okay.

I'm bad at giving critics cuz i'm not good with words and also english is not my first language but i'm gonna try my best . The texture still didn't seem real to me, it looked like it was pattern pasted on the form rather than texture, and the cast shadow of the middle part need to be shaper i think, correct me if i'm wrong. sorry if i sounded too harsh, tell me if you don't like how i give critics.

Are you by any chance taking the fundamentals of lighting course on schoolism, cuz i'm planing to sign up for it too.

Maybe you can write in your mother tongue and by some miracle i understand it?

I agree about the texture but i don't know how to fix it-i did try to distort it and paint over, as you see, it didn't really work...
Do you mean the one on the shape itself or do you also mean the one on the "floor"?

That's the course i'm taking (not with teacher's feedback)! Join and we'll be sort of class mates:D

General recipe for critique is: start nice, point to the negative, wrap it up with a positive comment. I think there is a more thorough explanation in general section of the forums. The way you did it, works for me, so just keep at it;)

Attempt to fix the texture... Ran out of time for doing it on the entire shape. I wish the day would have 35 hours! Suggestions for further improvement are welcome as always:)

If you are working on lighting/rendering, I highly recommend you check Izzy's youtube channel and videos, they could help you a lot having a more structured and simple approach.

Time is a problem...
This is the color exercise i did. At the moment, i can't even say what it is i don't know if it worked or not, my brain is too fried. But as always any feedback is welcome!

Cubebrush is asking me if i really want to revive this topic... YES, i do:D

I've been doing storyboarding and some anatomy in the last months and most of it was on paper... I'm back to digital as i do not want to use so much paper for gesture drawings;)

Anyways, here is what i've been up to... I don't know if i am getting better with these exercises but then again, i guess couple of hours is not enough to see real progress.
