Greetings, this is Toki from Hong Kong who want to improve art skill in spare time. I’ve been dreaming for being an artist for years, but never made effort to practice fundamental skills. I’ve joined some courses in design school but those are not quite suitable for me.

I know I can draw if I want to, but lacking basic concepts and skills makes me feel painful when I was holding my pen, that’s why I seldom draw now (maybe once per few months), while my art dream is always spinning inside my head.

I’m sick of being a daydreamer and procrastinator, so I decided to join this art program and keep posting my practices here to raise my motivation and keep promise to myself.

(๑•̀ㅂ•́)و✧ <(I will complete the entire course!)
Promise to myself on Jun 2, 2023.

p.s. After reading posts in this forum and those fabulous drawings , I feel like my perfectionism is telling me “you have to draw more and better before you post!” and it comes up to pressure. I know it’s incorrect so I decided to post them with anxiety lol.

Some drawings in the past half year, hopefully I can become better than I did.
Actually I don’t know how to draw gestures, so I asked for help and drew over the gestures sketch drawn by my friend. (what a shame T.T)
I felt really painful when I was pushing myself to complete the whole drawing…

Christmas (Dec 2022)

Lunar New Year (Jan 2022, Left-hand side character)

Valentine Day (Feb 2022, Left-hand side character)

I’ve started for a couple of days, but didn’t draw everyday and usually started drawing after playing video game. :frowning:
(Splatoon salmon run player, willing to draw Splatoon characters in the future :D)

(╯▔皿▔)╯Considering to change the order of drawing and entertainments.

Some pen control practice, I replaced my old flatten digital pen nib into the new one after the third one. The pressure of strokes is much more better now.

Photoshop assignment - Image Adjustments:
(I skipped the dream-house assignment and old→young one because I want to draw anatomy first)

I watched the tutorial in parts this several days and currently doing the figure drawing assignment 1-3

and I drew this one while watching the tutorial and definitely felt disappointed after comparing with the original image. Will challenge again in the future.(╬▔皿▔)╯

(* ̄︿ ̄) <( will practice after having dinner tonight!) promise to myself.

Welcome to the forums!

for your last one, the right hand is a little bit too low and the left foot is inside the box while in the reference it is outside of the box

so far your drawing over the models is off to a pretty good start tho some of them are a little flat so try to think about how it would curve rather than how it looks initially.

the lower ones are pretty good in terms of the curves tho.

haha yes post them! the people here are really nice and will give you good feedback  they won't be too harsh about it but will simply kindly point things out  but ultimately its up to you if you wanna incorporate the critique so post freely and there's no pressure if you don't post in a while too.

I used to post every day but then i got busy with life :frowning: and at the moment i have other priorities besides my personal project and art school :frowning: so i might only just post once a week or once every few weeks or really just whenever. I take inspiration from @Vonschlippe who is really good at drawing, yet it is a hobby and he posts when he can and if not then whatevs but everytime he posts its just super amazing

And don't worry about not being good enough, we all start from somewhere! Also its good to post even if its bad, so that as you go along the course, you can look back and say wow look how much better i got compared to the beginning! (tho that can take time so don't rush urself). most important thing is to have fun!
