Hi, I just recently started Online Art School, and have really been enjoying it so far. I'm currently 18, and art has been a new passion for me after burning out in the sciences upon graduating high school. I regret not finding this program earlier as it would have immensely improved me as an artist.

I started with perspective (as that was what looked most interesting to me).

Here's my project. I would love a critique of my work on how I could improve. Looking forward to studying alongside everybody. I've only listened to the other lectures, so I need to go do the projects now haha.

Hi and welcome in art school!! This is really great!!
One thing that is missing is the bottom of the left wall haha but for the rest is a wonderful first piece to submit Is it your living room?
Remember to add some ambient occlusion at the end, it gives a really nice touch. But, apart from that, awesome job!! Keep posting

The room looks pretty good so far, you may want to double check the perspective/vanishing point, the fireplace seems to be pretty far off, as does the TV stand (it appears to be tilted forward), I'd recommend trying to use a different vanishing point on the same horizon line (a lot further to the right). Technically, all of your lines (that are going towards the vanishing point) should lead to the same spot, the tv stand being at an angle is a little trickier, but nearly everything else should go to the same vanishing point in one point perspective. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the warm welcome! Yes this is my living room, it’s normally more cluttered so I only drew in the essentials to make my job easier . I’ll use the feedback to improve thanks

No problem! Yeah if you were to do this drawing again, in one point perspective, pretty much all of the lines would either be vertical/horizontal, or going to the same vanishing point. You can basically just make a big X shape from the corners of the "paper", and use that for the edges of the floor/walls, then make the lines for the couch/fireplace/rug/table go towards that same point. The angled tv stand is trickier, check out the videos on using multiple vanishing points for that (Term 2 I think), Marc explains it far better than I can haha.

Some more figure drawing practice with skeletons and 30 second gestures. I think I'm just going to do gestures with pencil and paper because I struggle to draw quickly digitally

Is the gesture done in 30 sec? crazy haha I usually do just, sticks in that time hahah
Some poses are not super readable, like the second and the third one of the first line but I'm looking forward to see your gestures on paper

Nice stuff, gesture and figure drawing is not super exciting at first, but you seem to be doing well at it, I think you could keep doing more figure drawing exercises to really hammer home that knowledge before moving on if that's your plan.

I have a bit of experience doing gesture drawing from Proko haha . Yeah some of the poses aren’t readable due to my lack of accuracy on a tablet so I definitely need practice there. I’ll post some more soon

You picked a very nice interior for the assignment. Love all your details and planning.
You might want to check the lines colored in blue, those seem slightly off even to the naked eye. I learned that photos don't always have perfect perspective because of slight lens distortions.

I have been juggling so many projects, that I haven't been making time to work on the Art School assignments. I will drop a few to focus more on Marc's exercises. Here are some exercises that I've done in the meantime. Not sure if I properly drew the volumes correctly in 4 point perspective

Here's my Perspective 2 Assignment

This took a lot longer than I thought it would, but I'm fairly happy with how it turned out . I used the Gate from Genshin Impact in Monstadt as a guide.

This is my first serious attempt at drawing a face in a more realistic style. I have a long way to go, and would love feedback on how to improve

I included the photo I used as reference. There are many things that don't match the photo, but I admit to being lazy when it came to analysing the reference.
