Sabeel, The Sun Blessed
Story: Sabeel is part of an order of monks who have been chosen as warriors of the sun, tasked with keeping the peace in the realms as well as spreading knowledge and peace. However, a warmongering prince has risen within the land, attacking and pillaging villages and cities. Now he has attacked the tower of the order and, wielding her blades of sunlight and fire, Sabeel enters the fray...

Here is my progress so far and what I've created. A lot of conceptualisation happened in the mood board process which is on Pinterest An introduction to my character:

This is Sabeel; she is a hero who lives during times of war and conquerors and gods. She has been blessed by the sun to have the power to summon 1000 blades of light! She can only have 2 summoned at a time and once all 1000 have been summoned she has to recharge. Also, each blade has a time limit so she can't just summon a single blade and use it forever, she will be forced to use all her blades eventually.

We could feel all her strength just with her face and magical symbols !
Can't wait to see the illustration with all the 1000 swords flying around her (kidding of course haha)

Thank you so much for the kind words @mr_dessin, @katya_cyan and @tbrk I have some more things to post soon with regards to armour designs and stuff and trust me, I am also looking forward to seeing how the final splash art for this turns out ^_^

her backstory already resignates with her design i think. Can't wait to see the swords! the small thumbnails and her face are beautiful!

Thank you @Gil_Ascher I'm thrilled the story and design are correlating as the whole point with the design is to tell half the story without the text dump

For those who have been following, here are some quick armour scribbles expanding on some of the thumbnails in the previous post I have to say though that I'm leaning towards number 1

If you're instinct tells you than the 1 is better then it's probably because it's the right one and I agree with that!

All of them have interesting features.
Second with the diamond (?) tails and third with the nice sheet shapes.

I have no doubt the final result will look good whatever you choose ^^

What I'll probably do is take that one and do some line art variations and change patterns and lengths of things!

The first one is super cool, but the draping of the third one gives her more uniqueness, maybe a mix of both?. Very cool concept btw!

Huzzah! Finally (almost) on holiday, so everything is winding down at work. Here are some line art designs for Sabeel, leaning pretty heavily towards design 2! Going to start working on some final illustration compositions as well as doing colour variations today. Want to finalise her colours by this Wednesday (so tomorrow for me) so that I can start with the rendering of her front as well as the splash art! I refuse to miss the deadline for the third year in a row!!!

I totally agree with you on the 2 design, the side skirt is pretty cool! And I'm a fan of asymmetrical design
