Once a human man, cursed for trespassing forbidden waters, this spirit now protects the domain of the ocean. When dormant it is undistinguishable from the rest of the sea floor, but unwary sailors who cross into its territory will find themselves beset by an enormous, carnivorous beast.
Due to its unnatural long life the spirit of the deep has grown to match many ships in size, and has mutated into something that is no longer recognizable as the man it once was.
It cannot see and instead navigates via hearing, as well as being able to detect movement in its waters. Its spines are venomous, though sea creatures on occasion make a home amongst its plant like growths when it is underwater for extended periods.
