OOOOh I like him a lot! He has a nice defined silhouette. Very elvish, yet quite rugged. I think it would be so cool if you made him have a look specific to him. He's traveled a lot, so what he is wearing might reflect that. Bringing in a bit more russian or Japanese influences, styles, and patterns in his clothes would totally make your character feel like he's on a journey and he's a traveler. Rugged Russian garments, plus the elegance of the Japanese cultural kimono style would blend perfectly.
He's super colorful and that is very unique, but if you chose a set of 3 colors max as a theme, then he would totally stand out from your friends d&d characters. That bright red and soft blue is a great combo. I think you should push that balance.
Again this is just what I think would help the character design, so you do what you like with your awesome elf mage! Great job!
