After a lot of thinking I had decided to join the light. Mad Monk Asabi uses powers gifted to her by Devi (Feminine or female version of Deva, both mean divine being). With her god level power shes better off being on the good side.

So I have started working on designs for my Mad Monk!
I am liking the second one more mainly because it fits what I am looking for in this character, which is an edgy, crazy monk look.

Great expressions, she definitely gives the "mad" feel you're going for! The horns say "dark side" to me so I'm not sure they're conveying the correct side that she's on, but they do make her more of a fantasy character than the hairdo (and shoes) of the 2nd sketch. The hair in #2 does have a more striking silhouette. I think the pants on #1 are working better just because there's more visual interest there than just bare legs provide.

Did some cleaning up, I still feel like there are things I need to improve about the design. I was thinking of adding some skulls to the sandals or sneakers, maybe both..

Yea thats what I was going for, I want her to be on the good side but have some aspects that make her seem like she has a bad side. I don't want her to be 100% good or light.

While inking I made some adjustments to the designs.
I put some skull and bones on the shoes, at first I did that to the sandals but I thought it may look better on the sneakers.

With these inked I have decided to go for the second design. Now onto the back design!

Finally found the color combination that works best for me. I wanted a monk color pallet with a bit of edge.

Got the render done, so heres the final base design.
So now to draw her with her Devi powers activated. Her final design will essentially be her in all her glory (Her powers activated will be her final design)... This will be the hardest part but I am looking forward to the challenge.

So this is one design I came up with based of the references. I did a quick sketch just to solidify the over all idea. So her final design will have 8 more arms kind of like the Buddhist statues. Her powers come from a Devi which is a godly being it would only be natural for her powers to look god like.

Great development so far! Glad you picked the gold color for her. The god-like powers and multiple arms are looking great, although it's a shame if the powers cover her face as she has such a winning expression. Good luck fleshing it out more!

Thank you, you make a good point actually. Maybe I shouldn't cover her face, considering her facial expression will help represent the fact that she is a mad monk..

Some ideas for the Devi form, I am reconsidering this idea all together. I still want to keep the arms but maybe remove the Armour parts..

I like her armor : D Although, i think you should merge some aspects of your designs. I circled the parts that i think would work well in the same design.
