I don't feel like I got a lot done this month but I did manage to get the gesture drawings, I'm not sure how I'll do April's 10 minute gestures because I'm not sure on what else to draw during the rest of the or what to look for, 5 minutes was already too much time but I guess I'll do my best, I've also been trying to get through the Anatomy 1 class and its kind of hard to wrap my head around. It did get me to look closely at facial features so at least they're sticking out to me so when it comes to drawing them it should be easier in the future.
These are some of the sketches I did this past month, I don't know if lining things up like this counts as perspective practice but it sure helps me draw in 3d
I also learned how to play Settlers of Catan and then learned to hate it
Looking good, volumes are clear and the perspective on various of these pieces is looking good. Head constructions also looked good
If there is one thing I would recommend as an experiment - as it all comes down to personal preference in the end - it would be to try out changing your drawing tools
For example, you can try out different types of paper (newsprint, large format sketchbook, simple bond paper etc) and different pencils (maybe a 6b or charcoal even) and consider drawing really big. As big as you can go. Newsprint is cheap and can be very large, you just need to find a way to stand it upright and draw from your shoulder.
cheers!

This month on the to-do list was sculpting a head so I did all I could with this modeling clay which I had to kind of do in one go since after I broke the seal on the package I then read that it would dry in like 2 days, I started with the top part like I would on paper by makinga sphere but as I tried adding on the jaw/front of the face making anything else turned out to be real hard since I couldn't really change form once it was on the head without affecting the whole thing.
I tried doing some portrait studies of one my favorite games of all time, this is the main character and I tried using the construction method Marc teaches us and after doing the first one (left) I noticed how the head was deformed and got the proportions a little bit better and it looks cleaner.
I've had these charcoal sticks I bought for a while and might actually try a different medium this month if I get inspired enough, I'm also kind of behind on the classes but I am keeping up with the gesture drawing, that just comes naturally to me, I'm trying to find other sources to try and learn from and I found a book filled with drawing exercises that looks interesting and i can just do and not think about too much while still practicing the fundamentals.
I'm also dealing with some serious pushback on the mindset side of things. I didn't want this thread to turn sour with my daily struggles with depression possible adhd etc. but its really starting to affect my ability to practice and should be noted for the sake of keeping records, its all part of the journey after all. I'll consider going into depth with that nose but for now this is all I have for this month, stay safe everyone!
Nice sculpture! Studies look good too
If it is a water based clay you can use a brush and a bit of water. It will help smoothing some areas and sticking things to it but don't add too much water. Also I put my clay in a bag and it hasn't dried and it lies like that for a few months already but I don't know if it will work for every clay.
Charcoal - use it light first. if you put hard lines first it will be too hard to erase. And erase your lights when shading it can get really messy later. Kneaded erasers are nice for charcoal. You can also use it with water to get some interesting results. It took me a long time to start liking charcoal.
Have a good day!

I don't know what anerism or blood clot or whatever freed up in my mind this month but I decided to go on daily walks last week and I managed to get through a whole class, Anatomy 2, I will be moving on to anatomy 3 and going all in until I can draw the Human body since that's what's on the yearly plan, I also have to take a gander at that color theory class just to get that one out of the way, anyway I think I got the head recipe down I guess I just need to practice and apply it to the torso, I tried a sketch of a nude model and highlight all the muscles I could see, I think I'm ready for the next anatomy class, but there's also figure drawing coming on so I really need to figure out what I want to do first, anyway here's some work I done did this month, here's to being productive happy pride everyone!
Also here are my notes its my mess , I will cry if I want to, I know what everything means, you have bad handwriting not me no sir.

This month I made a bit of a breakthrough, I am also overwhelmed by how far behind I am on the yearly challenge thing so I'll be using it as a checklist while I try to be more consistent in my practice and all that.
Good news is, I've decided to take on the Art Quest books I bought a while back and I'm starting to go through them, hopefully I can incorporate the lesson from Art School as I try to complete the tasks, I'm struggling to find a community I can fit into and maybe learn and make some friends etc. Its just so taboo for me to go into any server even the official one we have and just start chatting it up, I don't even do that with the people I've known for ages, the Pandemic did a lot to everyone's social circle and I'm no exception, its getting increasingly hard to get anything done these days, the month is already over and I got to participate in society while trying to learn all on my own, not easy.
Anyway as I was trying to say, I kind of reconnected with a younger version of me and I think I finally have on my hands, the one thing I was lacking when starting this journey, a final goal, an end game, the kind of thing I want to draw or create etc.
Sure I wanted to tell a story of some kind and maybe do a comic or illustrations but that's more of a "using the skills to pay the bills" sort of approach, but now I have something to hold onto, which I just kind of set aside and figured it was too far away from now, its something to keep me going and I did some thumbnail sketches on the basic concept, might be hard to read the handwriting since these are on my little travel sketch pad thing and taking pictures of it is hard.
Here is some other things I did for this month and with that, I have to figure out what to practice next and also what studies are and how to do them, good luck everyone and have fun
Some more Fanart I did for Suris hopefully this one gets featured
