Hello @kalacska.agnes
What a great start to your art posts. It looks like your doing a ton of work in the school too, you'll learn so much more about your past pieces by doing all those new studies so look forward to that.
Objectively I think this illustration is working very well so far for your skill level. You have some light source consistency issues which I'm sure you will learn about very soon from marc no doubt. And that will help with what some areas are lacking in the texture department of your...I'm assuming oliphant style, elephant.
However I think your background is in a state that is almost something...but not quite. It has an illusion that there is something there to catch the eye...but then there isn't. And it makes me distracted from your elephant creature. We don't want distractions from an illustrations ability to tell a story (which I'll get back to later). So my suggestion is to go whole hog, in either direction. Have extremely vague background! Or designed and painted world background! You don't want someone asking you, "what is that?" when they look at your piece. You want them to say, "oh sweet elephant armor design..." then look around the piece and tell the story in their brain...etc.
And lastly for the objective category, you have used full black and full white in your piece. A lot of people do this so its no big deal but what people don't realize is that it can flatten an image instead of adding depth like they hoped.
So to a professional it looks like you couldn't decide what to put behind your creature and struggled with the application. But to someone who can't paint an elephant or a background like you, it looks great.
Now subjectively, in my opinion, your illustration could use more story. And you can do that in several ways very simply. Adding a background is one we've already mentioned, but you could also add a handler, or character, who has a relationship to the elephant somehow. That way the viewer can fill in the gaps in their own mind and feel something for this creatures presence. Examples like, am I sad? Impressed? Proud? Awed? Fearful? Do I relate to the character in the story? Does the elephant protect the person in the image? Etc Etc.
Having an emblem or insignia could also add to the story. He's obvioulsy prepared for battle, who does he fight for? Having extra elephants could add to the power of the illustration since they often travel in groups. But thats pretty much it for my subjective stuff. Take that or don't because it is not me doing all the work.
Great job and keep it up.
