Pretty good studies! I say you could take your time studying each part of the face, rather than trying to do them all at once. try first getting comfortable drawings ears, then noses etc. Just so you keep all your focous on learning one thing at the time.

Some more heads! I saw advice saying to take features on one at a time but my brain just couldn’t. Will be trying that soon though since I’m starting to lean into studying structure recently. These heads were done over a bit of time. I do like how they’ve turned out. 😌

Term 2 - Perspective 2 | Assignment 1

This was fun but rough. Decided to stop here cause I just don’t currently have the skills to make it how I want. I’ll def be revisiting this throughout the course if I get more ideas and also to roughen it up a bit so it’s more realistic and looks like an older gate. Kinda wanted it to have a bit of castle in the sky vibes but of course a gate and I think on water instead of in the sky.

My shading is also very off but I’m learning so will update this once my understanding of light and shadow is better. Uploaded with and without my guidelines.

Same here! It was fun but challenging. I tried to make it a little easier and started drawing Houses, buildings etc. Simple shapes first and then add more complexity. I definitely recommend do that too from time to time, just to not get rusty.

I cannot believe how long it's been... But I haven't stopped working on my art - I just had stopped my Art School Journey. I'm back but a bit overwhelmed so here are my updates from things I've done following the released "Weekly Schedule" which as been taking me much longer than a week at a time haha... I stopped at Term 2 - Perspective 2 | Assignment 1 so here are some of the studies that technically (according to the weekly guide) were supposed to be done but I hadn't known about them till I had gotten this far... Will place this in my next post.

Here were my first artist copies of character designs/illustrations I liked in like 2024 I believe. Artists copied are: Tudvaseva Sasha, Rinotuna, Loish, DeathandMilk, Arcane Show, and Gabriel Picolo.

And then here are some pretty not great lazy background studies. Just 4 out of the 6 I'm supposed to have done by now... Womp. I unfortunately could not tell you who the original artists are..... another big womp. But I can say, I've found other backgrounds I like more that I'll do the rest of the 2 studies on. And I'll spend more time on those...

Now to some kinda good stuff. Did a bunch of portrait studies during my long pause... Not gonna post all of them obviously but here were some faves during a 100 head challenge (that I didn't even complete wompppppp). This was still quite a bit back but I believe at least end of 2024.

Alright. Back to the character studies. These are my most recent studies. I didn't finish the Miss Fortune one (pirate woman), but it just hit me that idk why I'm doing these since the course hw was to do 5 full character studies and then 10 head studies so idk why I'm doing more of these detailed ass full character studies. I already did 6... Now we're at 9 bro. Screaming.

So these will count as head drawings too. I'll just say I did 3 and have 7 more to go.

So that's pretty much where I'm at. Here's just a self portrait in the style of Spiderverse I did in about 1.5hrs (doesn't count towards that one assignment cause I used a picture and just did it for an inktober prompt). The rest of my personal work I just post to my insta obviously at lolaida_.

I'm just glad to be back though I probably won't post as often as I'd like - at least I'll try posting the studies I've technically been doing everyday. I think I'll probably stop doing the non-direct coursework and focus on getting through the videos and official assignments because I think that was the problem in the past...

Skipping Photoshop 2 - Assignments. Next posts will be the other 2 assignments in "Perspective 2" and then the first 2 anatomy assignments in "Anatomy 1" since I didn't post anything for those and need to brush up.

I’m considering term 2 assignments done with these practice sessions. I think the recommendation to turn the shapes into a larger science fiction inspire street scene is a little too daunting for me currently. My biggest goal is learning how to draw people and characters and after that I’ll try figuring out how to make better environments. Man is it hard to do this with a full time job…

Anyways I really tried with these and even tried doing that one box challenge I’ve been seeing places. I think it obviously could have been cleaner but I was tired and it was my lunch break lol. Also, I’m case beginners look at this - I do have experience with the drawabox curriculum so I’ve drawn a lot of boxes to get even this “alright”.

Here are the body studies plus the 4-pt perspective for a human. The 4pt thing - I will never do this again lmfao! But I just studied real people for the bodies in the second image (obviously). I have a harder time studying conceptual drawings of people than drawing real people. I want to draw many more figures in just the basic poses so that I can really get my proportions down without reference.
