Hey dood, welcome to the class!
I think it’s fair to say that you have a decent base, doesn’t seem like you are drawing the human figure for the first time at all. I guess your pages seem somewhat scatterbrained, so my advice would be to follow the instructions and focus on doing each of the proposed exercises one at a time, such as a full page of cylinders, or cylinder-people, or gesture drawing, etc (which clearly you can do all of these). Try to make the most of each too; for example, clearly you can go for much more detail on the left figure in the fourth image, because you actually did with the one on the right. On the long run, being organized and consistent will make practice more efficient and the journey that much smoother.
As for the last image, I think the proportions need some work. Arms seem too short, the tibia & fibula look as long as the femur which they shouldn’t and the male model in particular looks kinda feminine what with the slim shoulders and birthing hips (they are almost on the same Y-axis, which should tip you off that something’s wrong). If you didn’t use the 8-head proportion grid, I’d recommend you give it a go a couple of times just to fix these things and memorize where everything starts and ends.
You are on the right track, man. Keep them coming.
Thank you so much! I agree with everything you said; Porportions are definitely something i want to improve on. There was a big black Friday thing with a bunch of overtime right around the time i started art school so i was kinda eager to try a bit of everything, but im gonna dive deeper into each assignment going forward.
Hey dude, nice work keep doing the exercises. Quick thing I noticed that you can easily improve is your line quality. Work on smoother fluid lines rather than the short scratchy lines if you know what i mean.
To improve this keep working on drawing straight lines, ellipses and curves. What is also great is to try and connect multiple line strokes into one fluid curve by making 1 stroke lifting the pen and then trying to continue with another stroke.
Use your shoulder rather that your wrist as well.
