Values critique

The values seem to blend in to mutch and i cant figure out how to make them a bit better .
Feel free to give a critique on anything that migh seem of or point out the mistakes that i made.
It's stil work in progress.

Hi, cool illustration! I think for the values what it needs is a more apparent light source--the head is bright and well-lit while the body overall is very dark with little contrast. If you brightened up the body and then slowly added highlights and shadows according to the light source, the values will be less blended.

Pushing contrast like @yaakov-weinstein mentioned with the light-source, would help make it read better! Seems like a top-down light, so make the forms read better by blocking in the flat values again. Artists like Anthony Jones have a great understanding of value and form, so you could try studying one of their pieces to see where you could improve!

The first thing that came to my mind was to maybe make the skin a bit brighter. And since the image is more in the midtones/dark values it would have the added benefit of pulling the viewer towards her face. Then you could also darken the hair which would frame the face and pull the viewers even more towrds the face. Or you could instead lighten the hair. I think it could look pretty cool.

Anyawy I'm really liking the direction you're going with this picture. I'm looking forward to see how it evolves!
