I've made the short story for this piece and the character's background. I've tried to make it short, so quite a few details were skipped, but hopefully it makes sense x)
Story time!
Little is known of the stars that decorate vast magical galaxies, except for two things. The first being that these stars are unborn gods, and if they’re left alone for long enough, they’ll crash on an alien planet and emerge as contenders to the global throne, if not, their immediate eternal kings. The second fact being that these stars are arguably the most powerful sources of energy ever discovered.
The only people aware of the second fact are the spectrals; an advanced alien race which uses these stars as fuel to power their ships and flying cities across the countless galaxies.
Sharuh was one of these spectrals who worked on engines that absorbed these stars and transformed them into usable energy, killing the unborn god within. And with time, Sharuh came to regret all of his contributions to the science of extracting these powers. However, fearing exile, he kept to himself …
A new day dawned as Sharuh and his crew-mates gathered to extract a newly found star. Their ship was properly positioned, engines and reflective metallic planes spread from the front of the space-ship like a blooming flower, and the process of extraction had begun. Countless colorful rays fused into a single one, emerging into a pure white beam that captured the unborn goddess Pandora, and started pulling her slowly into the ship disassembling her in the process.
Sharuh was in charge of maintenance and preparations, so once the extraction had started, he had nothing else to do, than to watch his crewmates destroy another star. And watch he did, with more regret than the last time, and the time before that.
By the time the star was pulled into the ship, only the outter core was disassembled. The shell was no more, and the ray peered into Pandora, burning her surface, pushing the cold flame inwards. Sharuh stared at the dying goddess, hands resting behind his back, as his colleagues spontaneously coordinated. —She looks so peaceful- Sharuh’s heart ached, -I wonder what she would be like- he pondered further. Regret turned to sadness, sadness to anger, anger to violence, Sharuh went berserk. He physically assaulted his colleagues, instantly murdering a few in the process, they could barely even react. The crewmates abandoned their posts, leaving the interface of the machine unnatended, in an attempt to restrain Sharuh. Sharuh’s madness proved to be a formidable issue, more and more spectral scientist piled on top of him, but he struggled and threw them about the place like hollow toys. The unnatended machine was now going wild as the star stood in place and started to rebel with newfound strength. The spectral scientists finally had enough, and seeing no other way to resolve the issue, they pushed Sharuh into the white ray where the star was held. A blinding flash assaulted the eyes of the scientists, followed by an ear-piercing explosion that left them disoriented.
A few moments later, a few workers came out of their daze and stood up, only to see their demise… Pandora.
The goddess Pandora stood proud in the middle of the laboratory. Her black hair, deformed, twisted itself into tentacles that formed a serpent who’s elongated head resembled that of Sharuh. Sharuh growled as Pandora raised her arms -Separate the evil from the flesh, and the soul devours the body.
Screams echoed throughout the halls as Sharuh’s former colleagues magically combusted into flames from within. The only thing left in that room, were black shadows, burned into the floors and walls, and Pandora’s footsteps; going towards the nearest escape pod. Whatever this thing was, Pandora, Sharuh, or some weird symbiosis, it was now an enemy of the Nation of spectrals, an exile forever.
