First update: Sketches and references
There are a lot of monsters dedicated to eat sun/moon in our mythology around the world. I am trying to imagine a space monster that devour stars for fuel and energy. This dark beast travel across the sky like a comet. Many have been keeping track of its trail, thus believe that it will come and eat their sun 333 years in the future, bringing the doom to their kind.
I want to try a mystical approach on this one, combining the realistic functional side of the creature and some feeling of old script, book illustration and celestial atlas.
