- Thank you! I finally cleaned that up. Meanwhile started 3 more ..I have a habit of taking too long to finish a piece, then I lose interest in it and just start something else. I found 8 from recently i started and abandoned, that are decent enough to not delete, but not finished. There’s also been a number of drawings I felt I “outgrew” - became better before I finished them, and it would be easier to start from scratch than fix them. Anyone else thinking that?in24.3k
- Lady Death Fanart Collectible: Part 6 Polypaint and base Hi, it’s time to share with you another part of the process to create this fanart piece. Polypaint As this is my first collectible fanart I didn’t have previous experience with polypaint so I tried my best and played a bit with it.I wanted to give a ghostly and eerie look to Lady Death, she is beautiful and deadly, but at the end of the day she is a woman that died and was reborn at hell as an avenging spirit, that’s why I gave her skin tone a bluish very cold tone.As you will see I gave myself some creative freedom to deviate from the traditional color scheme that this characater has in comics and illustrations. To add a bit of sensuality by painting some freckles on the face and the chest. The dark nature of this character was the perfect excuse to gave her a kind of goth make up, very dark shadows around the eyes, blue lips and fingernails. I know that the original character includes sexy red lips but I wanted this girl to have a sexy but at the same time creepy look, that’s why we can see some thin veins emanating from her eyes. The biggest chromatic change I did for this character is at the hair. Lady Death has a characteristic white weavy hair but in my fanart I decided to gave her a very saturated blue color. The reason behind this wasn’t only an aesthetic choice. I want that the face area strongly pulls the attention of the viewer so this area needed a stronger contrast. Another reason is that I want her to have a more modern look, as I mentioned before, I’m strongly attracted to women with goth/punk look. I gave myself half an hour or more to analyse the work of experienced sculptors that create collectibles and I discovered that the use of darker values on the skin is often applied to create a greater sense of volume and three-dimensionality. I found that areas with heavy ambient occlusion are the perfect places to paint with darker colors in order to increase the separation between different forms. Even though she has a bluish skin tone, I used a bit of warmer hues in areas that, in real life, tend to go towards red and pink, this is very obvious in the nose, cheeks, and knuckles. Thinking with a logical mind it’s completely absurd to have warmer tones on the body of a zombie like creature but I didn’t want to limit myself by using only blue tones, it looks boring and artificial. In real life these colors are created by blood vessels in areas where the skin is very thin. ** Scythe **for her weapon I applied a cool gray with some warmer variations, this color scheme is influenced by the work of H.R giger. Base I’d like to talk about the design for the base which, to be honest, I forgot to develop along with the character. My main idea with the base is to show that Lady Death inhabits a very sterile and arid land, at the end of the day she is at hell. You can see a that she walks over dirt and rocks, a sign that she’s surrounded by death and loneliness. As part of the landscape we can see some bones and skulls to reinforce the idea of lack of living creatures, yet we can see three hands that try to reach her legs. This hands represent that all creatures are subordinated to her power and seek an evil blessing with a simple touch of the princess of the damned.1- The hand with skin burns represents the souls of those who are newcomers to hell, tortured souls that suffer for the sins comitted on earth.2- The hand with greenish rotten skin and pustules is the reminder of the decay that has infected the souls of those who have been trapped and have forgotten their humanity3- Last but not least, the hand of a demon shows that even dark creatures and entities bow before her presence. The cherry on the top, at least in my vision, are the simese twins that emerge from the ground, this malevolent creatures remind us that in hell there’s only perversion and any trace of innocence is lost. Thanks for reading till this pointI’m really happy to be very close to finish this creative journey, last but not least it’s mandatory to talk about splitting the sculpture in several pieces to be printed, this will be my last entry before showing the final rendered images. See yaMay Zbrush be with youin1.4k

- Thank you @daceronine! If I remember I save in google cloud, I will have to stick a note to do it more often. Lamp is from life. Poses are from refs but I look at refs for a while and then try to do it myself and look it up if needed. Outfits and rest is from imagination Something went wrong while installing system so we will have to wipe everything again... pc works but something is wrong. We will wait till internet is done and I will save everything on cloud this time Threads came out in eu. It's been 3 days and I had more engagement than after half a year on instagram. It feels really nice I hope it stays this way A portrait of old dude. It's the same character I posted a while ago. Inspired by Bayard Wu work. At first I thought of him as a bear but I named him Fenrir and I think wolf suits him better. Eye gave me a bit of hard time but I think it is fine now. I focused on face and forgot about area below. The way I draw hair clashes with greying hair. I had the same problem while doing Lohse's white hair. Does it looks like it is greying here? I love how desaturated red looks blue there. I keep lying to myself that I will use different color scheme but It all comes down to this blue and yellowish one it is just flipped this time Have a great day!in48.2k
The cover looks gorgeous!!!
Just looking at the design without it being on her face, it looks like the face of a cute pokemon or cute creature XDDD
and woah the forgotten soliary queen is like godzilla sized XD
The environment on that last pic shows an amazing amount of depth!
How long did it take for you to complete your final project from start to finish?
Happy new year!
Good luck on your job search and hope to still see you around in the forums
Amazing work man! At a high level view it looks amazing, the fight with the lighting is probably my favorite. Bests of luck with what comes next.
If possible, I'd be curious to hear what feedback you get from Marc, it would be interesting to hear his thoughts on the portfolio in general as well as how it works for a concept artist.
Maybe we'll end up playing games with creatures from your concepts at some point
@patrycja.lerch Tq tq, thanks for kind word
@Norma Tq tq same to you.
@mitsuki-youko Ayyy thanks for kind word, I started since March from scratch so 9 month. But final rush is 2 month which 90% of content I include in portfolio. Will sure do post something occasionally. Tq tq.
@daceronine Ayyy sureeeee will try post the feedback when receive. I curious too since I overdo little bit. Thanks for the kind word.
'Overwork withdrawal syndrome' still lingering, so I draw and paint 2 thing to smoothing down a little bit. At the same time wanted to create this 2 piece so I have reference to relearn sculpting.
Its my first armor design, now rework abit and test using watercolor to color.
The Very First Armor (Post 1) No more flat feet and flat arm.
2024 is year of dragon for Chinese so I decide to paint a dragon. I have not draw anime face in a long time so this does refreshing.
Title: Little Princess and her Little Pet
Sketches before paint
Gotta whining about dragon hind leg (back leg) problem. I search some reference and boi, they all look weird to me. No idea how come it slip through my brain the whole time. So I just half bake it hoping no one will notice.
What I learn is most of them just follow other mammal like dog and cat sitting down, so I half bake it.
Colors and ligthing are top notch, you can almost feel the sunset and sky. The dragon is simply amazing.
Anime girl could probably use a bit of work on the head structure. Side profile is rough to get especially when moving from 3/4 to side. Technically it seems fine, it's just a few small details like the eye being more of a triangle, lowering the nose a bit, and highlighting the indention on the lips a bit more and birng the lips a bit closer to the nose. It's just small details.
Had some time so tried to illustrate it here:
@mitsuki-youko eyyyyy thanks
@daceronine ahhhh no wonder I feel something not right, thanks for the small detail guide and picture include dude. And yeahhh it does look much better with little adjustment. Thanks for compliment as well, tq tq.
Before
After (included linework and change to overlay, and added shadow on neck).
Added Photoshop camera raw filter because instagram filter convinced me.
I got the piece of Certificate! took 8 day ish because of holiday and stuff from Marc but the feedback give me some hindsight what I lack. So it definitely help push to much better art.
Marc included 2 paint over + extreme feedback, and I certainly acknowledge this (mention in his feedback) is my weakness throughout the art school so this really help me understanding well. I will post what he include with before and after.
Msg from Marc:
Hi Bob! Oh snap you did it!! You completely crushed the requirements and most definitely deserve the certificate! I'm very happy to send that over, you should be very proud of your final project what a treat it's been to go through 🤩
It took me a little bit to get back to you, with the rush of the holidays and new years + I just wanted to make sure I look over everything properly Your stuff is awesome, very impressive. Your presentation is top notch too, really elevates the art.
I'm including 2 paintovers for pieces that can easily pop more with just a bit of light warmth - a lot of them don't really use contrast between warm and cool colors which can leave the result looking gray/muddy. It's just a matter of whipping out the soft brush with hard light blend mode to add a bit of color back in
On the other extreme, some pieces have too much contrast to the point it's hard to understand what's going on. The one called "Rotten Stone- Enemies" is a good example of that. Everything fights for attention, so everything becomes hard to see (you use too much black and white, but not enough gray). When you have pieces like that where it's full of different elements, you have to lower the importance of some to let others shine. Generally speaking, you can often avoid these problems by using a slightly reduced range of values, and only keep the pure white/black for areas where you want the attention to go to. Busy paintings also benefit from working on them in black and white throughout the process to keep the values in check. You can add a black layer on top of your layer stack and set its blend mode to saturation - this way you can easily toggle between the color version and the b&w version to check values. For that particular painting, I think the easiest improvement would be to lower the amount of lightning, and maybe give it a light blue color instead of white to make it less intense.
With that said, I'm attaching your certificate!
It's been a treat to look at your project pieces and I wish you great things for the future. Keep crushing it man!

the extreme feedback mentioned art
my attempt to clean up
So yeah incase you wonder what does the feedback look like then here it is. I strongly believe everyone received different feedback and possible other people will have longer text feedback than me so goodluck everyone to continue your journey.
peace
OH SNAP! CONGRATULATIONS MAN! That's a great milestone, and as Marc said, very well deserved, your pieces have a lot detail attention and passion in them!
And thanks for sharing both your accomplishments and journey and the feedback recieved. I can see how his notes and paint overs help improve. Keeping values in check as well as a balance of cold and warm is definetly something I also need to start keeping more in check. It's nice to see this applied and reminder of what difference it can make.
Same for keeping elements highlighted through saturation and other means.
Bests of luck for what comes next! make sure to keep sharing and let us know how it goes!
Do you have any immidiate plans? (other than to celebrate?)
Ayyy thanks dude, I searched internet (not sure reliable or not) apparently environment art, prop, and technical artist always hiring as it's soul crushing, not me thought, I like to sit infront of computer everyday. Since I used to study and work in interior design soooooo starting last week I have been diving to Unreal Engine and environment path hoping I can get used to the program.
Right now my aim is 3D artist, environment artist, level designer, and technical artist (in 5 year). Sooo it's a long road, I will occasionally post some artwork over here.
I like to see your manga reach the journey you desire too. Goodluck.
