  • Thank you! I finally cleaned that up. Meanwhile started 3 more ..I have a habit of taking too long to finish a piece, then I lose interest in it and just start something else. I found 8 from recently i started and abandoned, that are decent enough to not delete, but not finished. There’s also been a number of drawings I felt I “outgrew” - became better before I finished them, and it would be easier to start from scratch than fix them. Anyone else thinking that?
  • Lady Death Fanart Collectible: Part 6 Polypaint and base Hi, it’s time to share with you another part of the process to create this fanart piece. Polypaint As this is my first collectible fanart I didn’t have previous experience with polypaint so I tried my best and played a bit with it.I wanted to give a ghostly and eerie look to Lady Death, she is beautiful and deadly, but at the end of the day she is a woman that died and was reborn at hell as an avenging spirit, that’s why I gave her skin tone a bluish very cold tone.As you will see I gave myself some creative freedom to deviate from the traditional color scheme that this characater has in comics and illustrations. To add a bit of sensuality by painting some freckles on the face and the chest. The dark nature of this character was the perfect excuse to gave her a kind of goth make up, very dark shadows around the eyes, blue lips and fingernails. I know that the original character includes sexy red lips but I wanted this girl to have a sexy but at the same time creepy look, that’s why we can see some thin veins emanating from her eyes. The biggest chromatic change I did for this character is at the hair. Lady Death has a characteristic white weavy hair but in my fanart I decided to gave her a very saturated blue color. The reason behind this wasn’t only an aesthetic choice. I want that the face area strongly pulls the attention of the viewer so this area needed a stronger contrast. Another reason is that I want her to have a more modern look, as I mentioned before, I’m strongly attracted to women with goth/punk look. I gave myself half an hour or more to analyse the work of experienced sculptors that create collectibles and I discovered that the use of darker values on the skin is often applied to create a greater sense of volume and three-dimensionality. I found that areas with heavy ambient occlusion are the perfect places to paint with darker colors in order to increase the separation between different forms. Even though she has a bluish skin tone, I used a bit of warmer hues in areas that, in real life, tend to go towards red and pink, this is very obvious in the nose, cheeks, and knuckles. Thinking with a logical mind it’s completely absurd to have warmer tones on the body of a zombie like creature but I didn’t want to limit myself by using only blue tones, it looks boring and artificial. In real life these colors are created by blood vessels in areas where the skin is very thin. ** Scythe **for her weapon I applied a cool gray with some warmer variations, this color scheme is influenced by the work of H.R giger. Base I’d like to talk about the design for the base which, to be honest, I forgot to develop along with the character. My main idea with the base is to show that Lady Death inhabits a very sterile and arid land, at the end of the day she is at hell. You can see a that she walks over dirt and rocks, a sign that she’s surrounded by death and loneliness. As part of the landscape we can see some bones and skulls to reinforce the idea of lack of living creatures, yet we can see three hands that try to reach her legs. This hands represent that all creatures are subordinated to her power and seek an evil blessing with a simple touch of the princess of the damned.1- The hand with skin burns represents the souls of those who are newcomers to hell, tortured souls that suffer for the sins comitted on earth.2- The hand with greenish rotten skin and pustules is the reminder of the decay that has infected the souls of those who have been trapped and have forgotten their humanity3- Last but not least, the hand of a demon shows that even dark creatures and entities bow before her presence. The cherry on the top, at least in my vision, are the simese twins that emerge from the ground, this malevolent creatures remind us that in hell there’s only perversion and any trace of innocence is lost. Thanks for reading till this pointI’m really happy to be very close to finish this creative journey, last but not least it’s mandatory to talk about splitting the sculpture in several pieces to be printed, this will be my last entry before showing the final rendered images. See yaMay Zbrush be with you

Outfits and rest is from imagination Something went wrong while installing system so we will have to wipe everything again... pc works but something is wrong. We will wait till internet is done and I will save everything on cloud this time Threads came out in eu. It's been 3 days and I had more engagement than after half a year on instagram. It feels really nice I hope it stays this way A portrait of old dude. It's the same character I posted a while ago. Inspired by Bayard Wu work. At first I thought of him as a bear but I named him Fenrir and I think wolf suits him better. Eye gave me a bit of hard time but I think it is fine now. I focused on face and forgot about area below. The way I draw hair clashes with greying hair. I had the same problem while doing Lohse's white hair. Does it looks like it is greying here? I love how desaturated red looks blue there. I keep lying to myself that I will use different color scheme but It all comes down to this blue and yellowish one it is just flipped this time Have a great day!

Hello new friends and peers, I'm Saeki. I've recently enrolled in the ART School program a few days ago wanting to improve my skills as a digital artist and hopefully build a portfolio to make it into a career down the line.

I am very unfamiliar with digital art seeing as my main experience with drawing has been in a traditional pen and paper medium when I was younger.

I will update my progress in this thread with the first assignments I've completed as well as future progression.

It's a pleasure to share this journey with you all and nice to meet you!

11/14/2024

  • Daily Assignment: Pen Control

I thought this assignment was very insightful since generally I thought I had decent lines. This showed me that I have quite the ways to go even though I think I did a alright job overall. Through the months I think this will become even better.

  • Assignment: Image Adjustments

I thought this assignment was actually really fun, I have a little bit of experience with photoshop so generally I knew what I was doing. I think the difficult part was attempting to match to the images/colors since when working through them I would change them so many times that I felt that the subtle changes made it look very similar so it was good practice to train my eyes on subtle differences like that.

Welcome to the Forums! Good work on these, especially the last color correction one, it is the closest i see someone get in comparison with the reference.

Hi and welcome Saeki! I hope you enjoy your time here. And I agree with @Pattu_w. You did a great job with the last color correction exercise. It's a tough one, but you got really close. So good job!

Yo Welcome to the forums Saeki!
Strange coincidence, I know a guy called Seki. Does Saeki mean something? or maybe Seki means something? xD

I'm sure it means something, This is just a name I picked when I was younger for older MMO's I used to play and it kind of just stuck with me.

Yo welcome aboard, have fun!

Cheers

Japanese can be funny... I had to look it up and found:

Japanese: written 佐伯 denoting an assistant to an official such as a guard. The word also calls to mind noisiness sawagi and the Saeki were known for their loud ferocity in battle. The original pronunciation was Saheki or Sahegi

冴 means "clarity, serenity." 基 means "foundation, basis."

And I also found Seki:

Learn Japanese vocabulary: 席 【せき】(seki).

"seki"
1.seat
2.cough
3.Seki city in Gifu

'Seki' is a slang word coming from the Samoan language, meaning 'cool', 'skux' or 'sweet as'

I... I'm not sure what to make of it, but since I had it at hand figured I would share for whatever it's worth

Anyway, bests of luck!

Hey it's always cool to learn new information. Especially when it inspires topics or subjects you may have not known about before. :+1:

Hello friends, I'm here for my weekly art progress update.

01/21/24 - 01/27/24

Watch "Nude Figure Drawing" - My week started with watching the nude figure lecture and presentation. It helped me learn about action lines, joints, body sections as well as basic perspective when trying to display motion in a drawing. For me trying to display the correct perspective for certain figures is still really hard because it's something I've never really done before, but I hope that this is a skill I can work on over the next few weeks.

Daily Visual Communication - This practice has been helping me notice and take into consideration a bit more of what objects are shaped as in my environments. Throughout the week I don't get out too much since I'm trapped in a office or working from home but for my daily exercise I will notice my surroundings and try to picture what shapes these things could be made out of.

Daily Photoshop Digital Prod 1 - These exercises have been becoming a lot easier the more I do them my lines are becoming a bit more calm and relaxed and I am able to fit lines together a lot more than I was before. I still struggle a lot with making complete circles though.

Daily Nude Figure Drawing 1-3 - The past few days I've been starting working on daily nude figure drawings. I've been having fun working on getting my lines, joints, and body sections correct with the enhanced stickman model.

I think I still have a little bit of trouble getting some of the correct hip locations in their right place but I think in time I'll get it down. as I mentioned before I'm still really struggling with my perspective when it comes to placing cylinder shapes to show motion of a figure. In general I really struggle with creating circles and grasping how to draw that shape into the correct the correct perspective for the viewer so I'm a little bit dissatisfied on that part of it.

Digital Production Assignment 3 - This assignment was pretty fun I enjoyed trying to match the colors of things that I cut out from other images. Though it's still a little hard to get the color balancing correct in some instances.

Digital Production Assignment 4 - Learning about all the different methods that can be used to alter or adjust a images was insightful. I have a tiny bit of knowledge with photoshop due to making fight stick images in the past a bit but, I've never used it in this sense so it was neat to learn about the multiple different methods that can be used.

I struggled a little bit when it came to using the liquify method since I couldn't quite get the hang of getting things to match together but I think I did a pretty decent job with it.

Apples Burn / Heal -

Liquify -

You've been busy! Keep at it and you'll see more about it in the coming lessons, for now it's about getting into the habits and comfortable with the tools and processes.

I definitely will, I'm excited to keep learning and becoming familiar with these new skills.

13 days later

Hello friends, Here is a update of my progress recently. I took a small break last week due to some events I was interested in and I don't think I would be able to concentrate the way I would of liked to for my studies but I am back in it with what I've completed recently.

02/03/24 - 02/10/24

Daily Visual Communication - These practices everyday are continuing to go well. I am able to put sort out environments and objects into shapes and objects that I could possibly draw.

Daily Pen Control Practice - This week introduced new drawing practices that I have been working through some of them have been taking some getting used to but I think over time I'll warm up to them and progress through it easier.

Daily Nude Figure Drawing 1-3 - These practices have become easier as the week has gone by. I've noticed my cylinder shapes have been improving which I normally really suck at making lol. I'm still pretty awful at drawing them in other perspectives without a guide though but I'm sure in time it'll improve.

Daily Nude Figure Drawing 6 - When I first started these it was really daunting to me because when I draw things naturally I really try and take in all the detail and add what I can to make it appear as close to it as I can. These practices throw that mindset out the window but instead have you trying your best to capture the figure and capturing it in a short amount of time. So to say I struggled with these for a while would be a understatement but I think I'm slowly improving with it somewhat.

Line art Studies - This was a fun change of pace from the daily exercises but when I had to sit down and decide what to draw I was kinda met with indecisiveness because there's so much I would of liked to draw that and my current skill level I think I would of struggled trying to draw a lot of the characters/works that I was planning to work on. Maybe later on in the terms I will be able to draw those characters too.

Guitaroo Man -

Demi-Fiend -

Beat -

Brave Fencer Musashi -

Makoto Naegi -

Drawing gestures at first is definitely a struggle but go with it, it's essential!

cheers
