In the beginning I had no idea of what to do. What character should I draw. What superpower he will possess.
But I decided that my character will be a hero. The reason of that is because I don't like the "good" and "evil" things. Because there are no pure white and pure black. A character is a mix of different views and thoughts. For some they might be hurtful, for some they might be helpful. I don't like pure evil like demons or undead. I'm not saying it's bad or wrong. I just prefer something different. I prefer when an action has a meaning and story behind. When it's rational.
So I decided to make a hero with maybe some little "bad" things. Like a fire hero who can bring pain to people around because he can't completely control his abilities.
My first step was just to draw and doodle whatever comes up to my mind. With no idea. As I mentioned I decided to draw a hero. That's why I started with villains. Just in case. I quickly drew 4 villains:
Picture 1 - Villains sketch1) The first was a quick warmup sketch with an idea of a fire villain. Just a simple character.
2) Then I tried to make a fire character with more clear temper. But still just a quick sketch.
3) I decided to switch to humanoid character who has nature-like body. He can summon nature knifes that made from natural materials and has deadly poisons.
4) Then I though why not to make a villain who visually represents the Light itself. He thinks that he's a god and he's really powerful and arrogant. He materialize things made from pure Light, like giant swords.
Then I decided to switch to Heroes and continue doodling them.
Again I drew 4 quick sketches of heroes:
Picture 2 - Heroes sketch; part 11) The first was a Hero who has armored floating shields near his hands. I thought that he could protect himself with these shields or use them as a weapon to attack enemies or even drill something. But I couldn't draw something decent. It turned out bad.
2) Again I tried something with nature-like but couldn't find anything interesting. And again it turned out bad and boring.
3) 4) Then I tried different brush and couldn't find anything.
I tried to analyze and understand what was wrong with them. Then I noticed that they're all lack of personality, motion, temper, details. And it's hard to make details especially with my skills.
Then I decided to switch back to a fire hero. That's where I decided to make a hero who's dancing with fire. My idea was that the hero possesses a really strong fire that is hard to control. The hero brings pain to people and friends around him because she/he can't control his abilities properly. So one day the hero thought: if he brings pain to others why not to bring pain to villains. That's why he decided to became a Hero.
Still I had to search for an interesting hero in sketches:
Picture 3 - Heroes sketch; part 2I tried to bring motions and simple cloth shapes to characters as well as gift them with a simple personality.
I liked first and third variants. Mostly third. My current idea is that the hero (current name Agonia) isn't quite hero. She's really powerful and easily burn someone to death. So she's certainty not a "pure" Hero. She's deadly and not cares too much about villains lives.
