  • Thank you! I finally cleaned that up. Meanwhile started 3 more ..I have a habit of taking too long to finish a piece, then I lose interest in it and just start something else. I found 8 from recently i started and abandoned, that are decent enough to not delete, but not finished. There’s also been a number of drawings I felt I “outgrew” - became better before I finished them, and it would be easier to start from scratch than fix them. Anyone else thinking that?
  • Lady Death Fanart Collectible: Part 6 Polypaint and base Hi, it’s time to share with you another part of the process to create this fanart piece. Polypaint As this is my first collectible fanart I didn’t have previous experience with polypaint so I tried my best and played a bit with it.I wanted to give a ghostly and eerie look to Lady Death, she is beautiful and deadly, but at the end of the day she is a woman that died and was reborn at hell as an avenging spirit, that’s why I gave her skin tone a bluish very cold tone.As you will see I gave myself some creative freedom to deviate from the traditional color scheme that this characater has in comics and illustrations. To add a bit of sensuality by painting some freckles on the face and the chest. The dark nature of this character was the perfect excuse to gave her a kind of goth make up, very dark shadows around the eyes, blue lips and fingernails. I know that the original character includes sexy red lips but I wanted this girl to have a sexy but at the same time creepy look, that’s why we can see some thin veins emanating from her eyes. The biggest chromatic change I did for this character is at the hair. Lady Death has a characteristic white weavy hair but in my fanart I decided to gave her a very saturated blue color. The reason behind this wasn’t only an aesthetic choice. I want that the face area strongly pulls the attention of the viewer so this area needed a stronger contrast. Another reason is that I want her to have a more modern look, as I mentioned before, I’m strongly attracted to women with goth/punk look. I gave myself half an hour or more to analyse the work of experienced sculptors that create collectibles and I discovered that the use of darker values on the skin is often applied to create a greater sense of volume and three-dimensionality. I found that areas with heavy ambient occlusion are the perfect places to paint with darker colors in order to increase the separation between different forms. Even though she has a bluish skin tone, I used a bit of warmer hues in areas that, in real life, tend to go towards red and pink, this is very obvious in the nose, cheeks, and knuckles. Thinking with a logical mind it’s completely absurd to have warmer tones on the body of a zombie like creature but I didn’t want to limit myself by using only blue tones, it looks boring and artificial. In real life these colors are created by blood vessels in areas where the skin is very thin. ** Scythe **for her weapon I applied a cool gray with some warmer variations, this color scheme is influenced by the work of H.R giger. Base I’d like to talk about the design for the base which, to be honest, I forgot to develop along with the character. My main idea with the base is to show that Lady Death inhabits a very sterile and arid land, at the end of the day she is at hell. You can see a that she walks over dirt and rocks, a sign that she’s surrounded by death and loneliness. As part of the landscape we can see some bones and skulls to reinforce the idea of lack of living creatures, yet we can see three hands that try to reach her legs. This hands represent that all creatures are subordinated to her power and seek an evil blessing with a simple touch of the princess of the damned.1- The hand with skin burns represents the souls of those who are newcomers to hell, tortured souls that suffer for the sins comitted on earth.2- The hand with greenish rotten skin and pustules is the reminder of the decay that has infected the souls of those who have been trapped and have forgotten their humanity3- Last but not least, the hand of a demon shows that even dark creatures and entities bow before her presence. The cherry on the top, at least in my vision, are the simese twins that emerge from the ground, this malevolent creatures remind us that in hell there’s only perversion and any trace of innocence is lost. Thanks for reading till this pointI’m really happy to be very close to finish this creative journey, last but not least it’s mandatory to talk about splitting the sculpture in several pieces to be printed, this will be my last entry before showing the final rendered images. See yaMay Zbrush be with you

It feels really nice I hope it stays this way A portrait of old dude. It's the same character I posted a while ago. Inspired by Bayard Wu work. At first I thought of him as a bear but I named him Fenrir and I think wolf suits him better. Eye gave me a bit of hard time but I think it is fine now. I focused on face and forgot about area below. The way I draw hair clashes with greying hair. I had the same problem while doing Lohse's white hair. Does it looks like it is greying here? I love how desaturated red looks blue there. I keep lying to myself that I will use different color scheme but It all comes down to this blue and yellowish one it is just flipped this time Have a great day!

In times of war, reliable intelligence is king and Agent Rock Splitter of the Whispering Rock Intelligence Agency (WRIA) is the agency's premier agent. An expert of espionage and a master of disguise, his victims never see him coming until its too late.

Here is the Final Submission for the this project.

Here is an update on the model, I have blocked out the base structure of both characters and I am going to start filling in the other parts of the models in a later update.

Here are some of the latest Images

Amazing design! I really like that you took this in another direction than most people (the secret agent idea is very unique). I also chose the Earth element for my champion.

OMG! That's crazy. I didn't expect this one at all. XD

16 days later

I have been swamped at work for the past few weeks so I have not work on this as much as I wished. I finally got around to working on it today and I have most of the base models made and ready for more advanced sculpting and texturing.

I mostly have been working on modeling all of the various props for this character, I still need to get them clothing, underneath their trench coat, which is next on the to do list. I made all of this in blender so far, I plan on using zbrush to make their clothing because it will give me access to better sculpting and texturing tools. I would use blender for all of it, but I can't get the texture painting to work properly for whatever reason so I'm just going to make the maps in zbrush and export to blender for the final renders.

Hello,

I have another update for this project, since the last iteration I have added more props to my character, I UV unwrapped them and I have imported them into zbrush for more in dpeth sculpting and texture painting. I have sculpted in most of the folds in the coat and next I need to add a textured pattern to it so it looks like it is made more of a fabric rather than a flat shiny surface.

In the images I have here the model looks kind of blocky and the reason for that is that I am using HD geometry in zbrush for the detail. Using HD geometry means I can work on sections of the model at a higher resolution while maintaining while keeping the model at a lower resolution in the general scene, doing this makes the scene less taxing on my computer while I am able to get the level of detail I want from the final product. I have a few screenshots showing the higher resolution off below, this resolution won't matter much for the level of detail I have right now, but when I add in the fabric texturing in the next update it will make a big difference.

While looking over reference material for sculpting the folds for the model with the closed coat I came to the conclusion that I needed to present the coat in a manner that showcased that this coat was bursting at the seams, that the coat could barely contain what was underneath. In order to get this appearance, I tried to emulate the folds you might see in a over stuff trash bag, so while normally I would sculpt the folds following the contours of the body, for this model I added far more horizontal folds rather than vertical folds or diagonal folds.

The Open coat model on the other hand showcases a more relaxed coat that is not being overstuffed with random junk. If I have time I want to add a LOT more tools on the inside of this coat, showcasing an arsenal of tools and gadgets at rocksplitter's command, but finishing the more important features of the model come first, adding in new gadgets can come later if I have more time.

Either way, this is where I am now with this model, I hope you guys like it so far.

Interesting design. looks like it is coming along well.

Hi, I have another update for this project. I have modeled in all of the clothing for both of the models in the open coat pose and I have added in higher detail sculpted texturing to all of the models (except for the 2 characters skin and face, and the hat and the straps leading to the tank on the bottom characters back).

Tomorrow I plan on sculpting both of the character's faces and adding in higher resolution information such as pores and wrinkles. I also plan on finishing off a few of the other details such as the bottom character's tank straps, strapping them to him and adding more detail sculpt data to the hat.

All and all, I believe I can make the deadline at this pace and I plan on adding more updates daily.

Here is another update on this project, I have finished sculpting the faces of both of the characters, adding in more detailed sculpt information such as pores and wrinkles in the skin, I hope to export the close up data as a bump map for the final model. The some materials in zbrush highlight close up sculpting more effectively, so I have included a view screenshots of the models with different materials applied.

I am starting on the texturing today, I have outlined each part of the model with a basic color highlighting the general colors these items will likely have in the final model.

Either way, I am excited about how it is turning out so far and I am eager to finish it up before the final submission date.

Hi,

So I have another update ready, I have completed creating the defuse maps for all of my models and now I am importing them into blender so I can render them out using the cycles renderer. I need to add work on the shaders for the everything, but I have completed the skin shader in blender for all of the parts of the model that have skin showing and I have renders of them below. In the pictures below, I am using HDRI environment to light the scene and I used 2 HDRI images to get lighting as it would appear in different environments, one where the lighting is kind of dulled in a cloudy day and one set at sunset giving off more directional lighting.

Time is short, but in the time before the deadline, I plan on making a pose where the character is attacking in a fashion similar to that in concept artwork. I also plan on creating a simple model for my character to attack in the attack pose.

I have lots of coffee and i am eager to get as much work done as I can before the deadline on Saturday, I hope you guys like the progress so far.
