How could I improve this composition?

This is a sketch for a painting. I like the composition overall but i feel like the space occupied by the tree on the right is a little bit off. Any idea, mistake or tip for improving the piece would be highly appreciated.

I feel like the image could use a brighter focal point in the upper right third to contrast your characters (maybe a bit of reflection on the river?) and you could possibly darken the immediate foreground a bit more (the rocks and the tree on the right).

It looks good though! Very curious to see where you'll take it.
