G'day, I'm Jai.
I've done Some art and art training before having graduated from a game dev course at university. I have also worked in architectural visualisations for some time using the software blender and more recently I have been looking into character art.
So I guess what I am saying is that I am not completely new to all this, however most of
my experience up till now has been with 3D software (blender mostly) so there is a stark contrast between my 3D ability and my more traditional drawing skills, maybe I skipped over a few of the fundamentals and let the software handle that for me
Let me show you what I mean about the skill difference.
This is the best 3D character portrait I have ever done:
And this is a drawing of the main character from Kaiju no.8 I did as a kind of skill test before starting this course :
I hope to follow the weekly guide to give me some structure and accountability so that I can maybe complete the entire course and improve my more traditional art skills and fundamentals.
